The Dark Knight (no spoilers here)

Despite what I said in THIS entry about not expecting anything and not getting too excited, I lied.
BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!
It's an awesome, awesome Nolan film with a brilliant cast you shouldn't have to miss. It truly is both a triumph and a tragedy.
The late Heath Ledger was mind-blowing in this movie. I have to most definitely agree with Megan that he punctuated his life with three exclamation points with this last completed film of his.
Lastly, The Dark Knight f-ing rules!!

I'll spare you from all the juicy details.
Will post my review in a weeks time.
But go and WATCH IT! It's one heck of a must-see.

+foodscapes+

Below is a really interesting series of photographs forwarded to me via e-mail. These were taken by British photographer Carl Warner. Aptly called foodscapes, which is a union of the words food and landscape, the photos depict underwater caves, forests, beaches at sunset, and even waterfalls using fruits, vegetables, cheese, cold meat, pasta, and other grains. The three-dimensional sensation of the photos is achieved by composing each scene on a 1.2 x 2.4 m. square table.

In this forest, trees are made of broccoli, with peas hanging as fruits and the highways are paved with cumin. The grass is made of herbs and the mountains, of bread. Clouds made of cauliflower, decorate the sky.

The edible ingredients in this rural scene of Italian inspiration include a small wagon made of lasagna slices, fields of pasta, and clouds of mozzarella. Trees of pepper, parsley and basil complete the scene, in the small distance, a small village made of cheese.

This cavern is made of marine crustaceans....

Thai Chicken Pandan (Chicken Wrapped in Pandan Leaf)

I have always been a fan of Thai cuisine. Chicken pandan and fish cakes were my regular orders at the now defunct Sukhothai, which happens to be my favourite Thai restaurant along with Krua Thai. Migi, however, refused to give me the recipe for Sukhothai's Chicken Pandan before he left for London. So for the time being, this is my recommended recipe in cooking Thai Chicken Pandan. Enjoy! Thai food is la-la-love! <3

SANGANDAAN: The UP CFA Centennial Thesis Exhibit

Better late than never. These photos were taken at Sangandaan's opening last March 24 at the 2nd floor lobby of Podium, which turned out into an instant reunion for us. Jeff and Claro were both given the Jury's Choice award for their respective theses. I am but proud.

Kabuwanan sa Cubao Expo: Artists' Fair

The Artists's Fair at Cubao Expo last Saturday, the 5th of April was awesome! Kudos to the organizers - Ms. Sandy, Ms. Halmen, and Ms. Tricia. I, Marnelli, and Don set up our little booth around lunch time and people started trickling in late in the afternoon. Scarlet Tears played at around 9 in the evening. Friends and acquaintances (and crushes) were everywhere! Most importantly, it was an event which called for a lot of camwhoring.

**More of Scarlet Tears' pictures can be viewed at our Multiply site

+i love crayons+

If you were asked what colours can you see in the photo below, you'd most probably answer: a bit of periwinkle, orchid violet, olive green, raw umber, etc. I'd give those same answers myself. As a friend has put it: It's as if the "colour swatches" that one would most probably have in mind are formulated thanks to using Crayola as a kid.
I was in 2nd grade the first time I got hold of the 48-pieces Crayola crayons. I couldn't stop sketching and colouring in my drawings after I got it as a birthday gift with a set of Reynold's coloured pens. But the first time I set my eyes on the 64-pieces Crayola crayons, I couldn't stop begging my mom to buy me that. And so on Chistmas of 1994, I finally had my very own box of 64 Crayola crayons. It wasn't just happiness that I felt, it was euphoria!

I bet everyone would agree when I say that Crayola has always been every child's very first weapon of choice. I refused to stop using it even when I discovered the wonders of oil, acrylic, and water col...

+my art at the reading room, halo cafe, and oohwables+

It has almost been a month since I was blessed with the chance to meet these three, unbelievably supportive and kind women -- Ms. Sandy, Ms. Halmen, and Ms. Tricia -- who were so eager to have me hang my works in their respective shops. A week later, I brought several paintings to be put up at three lovely, lovely shops at Cubao Expo: The READING ROOM, Halo Store and Cafe, and Oohwables (soon).
The Circus is in Town

The concept for this carnivalesque batch of photos was inspired by one of Cirque Du Soleil's big top touring shows called "Alegria." Dark and heavy -- Alegria was a departure from the usually bright circus atmosphere. The said show's main theme was about the abuse of power and the subsequent struggle for freedom.

Models: Anne Chloe Choi and Myka Francisco
